What is Reformer Pilates?

Reformer Pilates is derived from the original clinical Pilates which is traditionally done on a mat. Reformer Pilates is performed on what is called a reformer machine which is made up of a reformer bed and resistance springs that are connected to add intensity and complexity to your workout. It is a low impact workout which is generally done in a group class setting. The aim is to build up your strength, flexibility, core strength and improve your posture all while you have a full body workout. There are different levels of difficultly across most Pilates studios and they cater to absolute beginners, intermediates and advanced skill and fitness levels. Some places even have upbeat music playing throughout each pilates class, making the environment a fun, exciting place to be. Each reformer class roughly goes for 40 minutes to an hour long and classes are generally kept small to provide guidance throughout the session should you require it.
