Canberra has a large variety of suburbs in size and location which is growing every year. We wanted to talk about the largest suburb in Canberra and see if you knew the facts around it. You will know that Kambah is a gigantic suburb which feels like it takes forever to get from one side of the suburb to the other. For those who are unfamiliar with Kambah, it is one of our suburbs located in Tuggeranong, just off the Parkway.
Kambah spans across 1,130 hectares of land in Canberra which makes it the biggest suburb here in Canberra with Symonston behind it on 980 hectares. According to research, the size of Kambah was a clerical area that a public servant made when marking out individual suburbs. If you know about Kambah, you may have also heard some people say “it’s the biggest suburb in the Southern Hemisphere!”. We’re here to tell you that that statement is incorrect and doesn’t even begin to come close to that. It doesn’t even come close to being the largest suburb in the country with density and size in mind.
